Cross Country Coogs show improvement at annual meet

Last week, the cross-country team traveled over to Montgomery High School for the annual Moonlight Madness meet, where the runners competed against 28 other schools.

Freshman runner Jacob Beacham finished in 11th place in the two-mile race.

Beacham was confident after the run.

“I was glad I had such a good time,” he said, having finished with a time of 11:56.

Although Beacham was the only runner to get a medal at this meet, additional racers, Porter Baker and Ewan Walker reached their own personal milestones this past week.

Baker, a junior, ran his first Varsity race and finished with a personal record of 19:50.

Although Walker, a sophomore, admits that the race was more fast-paced than he expected, the runner said he’s “surprised [he] finished how [he] did,” after achieving a personal record of 19:46.

The team is taking their skill over to Oak Ridge High School this Saturday with hopes of even more improvement.
