With an amazing start to the playoffs round, the Tomball Cougars dominated the first two games against Lamghan Creek High School with scores of 8 – 2 and 20 – 4. Their dedicated work ethic and determination throughout the season have set them up for success so far, as they have already won the district.
“We’re feeling great,” Corbin Cook said. “Our offense has been amazing, and we’re going to keep putting up great pitchers, and our defense is excellent.”
Up next for Area, the Coogs will face Oakridge High School on May 6 at 7:00 p.m. However, their first-round win does not mean they should let their guard down yet. Their last loss at the State Championship to Kingwood hit hard for the Coogs since in 2024, they won the title. Now, the team is using this new challenge to push themselves even harder, all the way to State at Roundrock, TX.
“Coach has really been pushing us this season to give it our all,” Catcher Hopkins said. “We’ve done so well these past years, and it’s just given us more motivation to push hard and perform even better this year.”
In the dugout, they have a sign, “Roundrock is an everyday commitment,” giving them the encouragement to uphold their standard of “tradition never graduates.” Each year, their goals never change.
