Last year’s season game against Memorial

Water polo began its season a week ago with non-district games against Nimitz and Benjamin Davis.

Both the Girls’ and boys’ teams are undefeated with each having a shutout game. Against Nimitz, the boys scored 22 – 1 and the girls scored 26 – 0. In their game against Benjamin Davis, the boys scored 24 – 0 with the girls at 9 – 5.

Water polo was most recently introduced as a UIL Athletic sport for the district. Last year’s season they were at an overall 2 – 8 for the boys and 2 – 7 for the girls.

“Last season was tough especially for the girls since we didn’t have the amount of conditioning and strategy we needed, “ said Senior Ximena Loredo Gonzalez, “This year we’ve been focusing on those details and it has made us a stronger more connected team”

They have two upcoming games this week one tomorrow against Oak Ridge and the other on Friday against Eisenhower.

The girls will play at 5 pm with the boys following at 6 pm.
