Tomball faced off against Port-Neches-Grove at home Friday. Tomball’s final preseason game ended in dramatic fashion as then went into the down 21-7 before rallying to score 24 straight including two deep touchdown passes from Hunter Dunn to Jay’ris Smith.

Dunn and Smith have connected on three touchdowns all from 50 yards or more, creating a truly game changing tandem. Nose guard Brady Cox made a massive momentum changing play, the 300+ pound lineman aired up for a interception and plowed ahead for 7 yards sealing the game for the Cougars.

Caney Creek started the season 2-0, but their winning ways would falter when they traveled to Vidor High losing 7-34. Caney Creek wasn’t the only team in the division to loss Friday as Waller went against undefeated Sealy and could grind out the win in a tough 36-23 game. Willis was smacked by New Caney letting up 33 points in the first quarter alone, the final score would be 68-24.

Tomball isn’t the only team in the district that you can’t count out late, Magnolia West scored 19 unanswered in the fourth quarter to beat Foster in a 43-39 victory. The Magnolia Bulldogs faced Montgomery, who was still searching for their first win, and crushed them 42-14 bumping Magnolia to 2-1 on the year. Lufkin help show that football has no borders as Prepa Tech crossed the Mexico border to play the panther, the ride home would be a long one though as they lost 68-0.

College Station remains the only undefeated team in the district. The reigning state champions traveled to play a tough Huntsville team and pulled out a 20-7 victory. College Station will play a school from Monterrey, Mexico this week while everyone else in the district will begin preparing for district play and resting up over the bye week.
