Girls Soccer’s amazing season comes to unfortunate end

The girls varsity soccer team’s strong season came to a disappointing end after losing to Kingwood Park High School by a score of 2-1.

Kingwood Park will advance to the State Championship tournament semi-finals.

Though the girls will unfortunately be heading home, they still had an outstanding season season. With an overall record of 22-1-5, the girls became only the second varsity girls soccer team to win district (going undefeated against other district teams), and the first to make it to the Regional Tournament Championship.

Freshman Courtney Heckt, who led the team in goals, and goalie Prescilla caruso provided the backbone of the team, exerting all there effort whenever called upon. Perhaps the most important reason the girls were able to have such a stellar season was due to the winning mentality and culture instituted by head coach Martha Freisleben and also assistant coach Brooke Neel.

With many returning players (only one starter was a senior), the girls hope to make another strong push for the State title next season.
