Juniors and seniors enrolled in specific four-year academic programs now have the opportunity to choose a Pass/Fail grading system for select upper-level courses. This new option is designed for students taking Level III or IV courses typically in 11th or 12th grade that do not offer quality (weighted) points, such as those outside TAP, AP, or Dual Credit tracks.
Students choosing Pass/Fail will receive numerical grades on progress reports and report cards throughout the term. At the semester’s end, if a student’s average is at least 80, the grade will be converted to a Pass for the transcript and will not be included in GPA calculations. Averages below 80 will remain as numerical grades and count toward GPA rankings.
Eligibility is limited to rising juniors (class of 2028) and seniors (class of 2027) who have completed Levels I and II of a recognized four-year program and are enrolling in corresponding Level III or IV courses. Each student may select up to two Pass/Fail courses per school year. The application process must be completed according to the timeline set by each campus, with all decisions finalized before August 1, 2026. After this deadline, students cannot change their grading selection. Only class of 2028 and 2027 need to fill out the application at this time.Â
The Pass/Fail option is best suited for students with an overall GPA of 100 or higher. Those with lower GPAs are encouraged to consult with their counselors to determine if this grading method aligns with their academic goals.Â
