Texas state law requires students to be at school 90% of the time a class is scheduled, meaning that students can only miss 18 days of school, or in each class a year.
It might sound like not a big deal to some, but at the high school level, students can lose credit for the class after the 10th absence of the semester.
This is why attendance matters.
Tomball ISD wants to make sure students are at school, learning, and growing. Being at school is very important for students to make the most of their education.
Here are a few ways parents can help: being mindful of family trips or when doctor appointments are scheduled, being proactive by getting a doctor’s note if applicable, encouraging your child’s attendance, and prioritizing school.
