Color guard left the station as state champions

Tomball Color guard has flown by their season with an four consecutive first place wins with their show “Runaway Train.”

Last Saturday they competed at the TCGC Reed Arena Color Guard Championships for Scholastic AA and Scholastic A divisions. Surpassing 21 other groups, they are named the 2023 State Champions for the Scholastic AA division.

“Once I saw Mr. Adams getting excited while they announced 2nd place, I started to allow myself to feel happy and get excited about our performance,” freshman Isabella Harris said.

“I was really nervous starting our run but once I met Koletin in the middle it calmed me down,” sophomore Davanh Ventress said. “I just kept doing what we have been doing all season and focusing on the small details.”

They were divided into SAA Blue and SAA Red with 10 groups in red and 11 in blue.

  • John B. Alexander HS Avant Guard A – 71.16
  • Edinburg High School – 70.88

Tomball had the highest score of all the teams in their classification.

“It’s very sad that the seniors are leaving but it was really fun to get to know all of them personally and really become a family,” junior Jaqueline Perez said.
