Cougar Charms close out contest season with 2nd-place finish

The Cougar Charms won 2nd place at their last competition of the season on Saturday at Miss Dance Drill Team Texas.

In the 10th grade solo division Ciana Shafer placed in 5th and Mallorie Albert placed in 4th. Junior Hayley Horan finished in 5th place in the 11th grade solo division. Major Hayleigh Lear’s solo took 1st place in the 12th grade division.

Additionally, the Elite team’s Contemporary dance finished in 1st place for the Medium Ensemble Division.

Officers, winning 2nd place overall at the contest, earned the following awards:

  • Super Sweepstakes
  • Choreography Award – Contemporary, Open, and Jazz
  • 2nd Runner up Officer Contemporary
  • 1st Runner up Open
  • Best Technique Award for Open
  • 1st Runner Up Medium Officer Line
  • 2nd Overall Officer Line

The team, coming in 2nd place overall with the highest scores of the season, were awarded the following:

  • Super Sweepstakes
  • Choreography Award – Contemporary, Open, Lyrical and Pom
  • 1st Runner Up Team Contemporary
  • 1st Place Best in Category Team Lyrical
  • 1st Place Best in Category Team Open
  • 1st Runner Up Team Pom
  • 1st Runner up Medium Team
  • 2nd Place Overall Team

“It took a lot of dedication and time, but we definitely saw the hard work pay off at our last contest.” said freshman Emily Marks. “I can’t wait until our spring show so we can show off our dance to the school.”
