THS Journalism Team takes first at UIL meet

The newspaper staff took first place as a team for the Academic UIL Journalism events at the invitational meet.

Students managed to pick up 15 medals for finishing in 5th place or higher in various competitions at Caney Creek High School recently to get prepared for the up-and-coming District meet.

The Journalism team and the Current Events both placed in 1st place for the overall team score. Overall, the school placed third in the competition. The placements are as follows:

Ready Writing: Jenna Jaffray (1st place)​, Eric Zalcman (2nd place)

Spelling & Vocabulary: Eric Zalcman (6th place)

Literary Criticism: Eric Zalcman (2nd place)

Current Events: Eric Zalcman (2nd place), William Klein (3rd place), Nate Breaux (5th place)

 Science: Nate Breaux (4th place)

 Copy Editing: Grace Lynch (4th place)

Next up for the Academic UIL squad is the district meet, this Saturday at Klein Collins High School.
