Winter chill shuts school Friday

Winter chill shuts school Friday

School district officials announced this afternoon that school and all school activities have been canceled for Friday due to the expected winter storm.

The storm is expected to dump as much as three inches of snow on the Houston area overnight tonight. Most of the area school districts have already called off school for Friday.

This means the talent show and other events will be rescheduled. However, the ROTC drill meet and the rugby game against Kingwood are both expected to proceed for Saturday, as the weather is supposed to warm up. The ROTC drill meet will occupy most of the high school throughout the day, while the rugby team plays at 1 p.m. at the Junior High football field.

Students will not have to worry about having a day taken out of their upcoming three-day break for President’s Day. Likewise, Spring Break remains safe.

If the state requires the district to make up the day, the school district will add a school day onto the end of the semester, currently scheduled to end June 1.
