There were many notable wins, including the USA men’s hockey team winning the gold medal, 46 years after their most recent victory, and another captivating win by the women’s hockey team, defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime.
However, the most prominent member of Team USA was the breakout figure skating star, Alysa Liu, who became the first American to win women’s figure skating in 24 years. Dancing to “MacArthur Park Suite” by Donna Summers, Liu won over the hearts of everyone across the world with her dazzling performance.
Along with her stellar abilities, Liu’s charming personality and kindness have inspired everyone who tunes in to the Olympic Games. Her daring hairstyle and tooth gems, along with her ability to connect with the younger generation has brought a new era of figure skating to the world’s stage.
Emily Swaim, a local figure skater in the Tomball Area, admires Liu’s ability to connect with teens and young women.

Swaim later remarks, “Her ability to show emotion during her performance and being absolutely flawless that entire time truly amazes me.”
Millions of girls across the globe can look up to Liu’s grace and professionalism on and off the ice. Alysa is set to compete at the 2030 games, located in the French Alps, hoping to take home another gold medal for her country.
