Baseball knocking on playoffs door

The Coogs faced off against Magnolia West on Tuesday, with a destroying 8-0 win.

The current district standings are:

Brenham 9-1

Tomball 6-4

Magnolia West 6-4

Tomball Memorial 6-4

Magnolia 6-4

Waller 4-6

Stratford 2-8

Spring Woods 1-9

There are two weeks left in the season and we are fighting for a playoff spot.

“When we played Waller I feel like we really dominated on the offense side,” Dylan Bourland said. “We are now in a three way tie…. I think we have good chance at making play-offs if we do come up with a win at our next game. Steven is pitching [tonight] and hopefully he’ll do as he always does.”

The Coogs are playing away at Brenham tonight at 7 p.m. and they would appreciate being backed by a crowd.

Right now the Coogs are tied with Magnolia West and rival Tomball Memorial.

“I definitely think we will make play-offs cause of our pitching staff and our offense has been doing lately,” Joe Breaux said. “We are in a three way tie for second right now and I think we are going to pull through. I think we are going to be tied when we go against Memorial, and it might be a defining moment for both of us. It would decide who went to the play-offs and who would go home.”

A state title two years ago left a pretty big legacy behind for the Coogs.

“If we became state champs again we would be filling big shoes again,” Bourland said. “We had some pretty good guys on that team that made it, including Robbie and Steven. It would be awesome to experience something like that but it would be hard to do.”
