The THS Varsity Girls Track team had their first meet at DeKaney High School on Feb. 8.

After more than a month of practice and getting back to the routine with coach Austin McQuary, nine Varsity runners went to the meet. Out of the nine events they competed in, they won on five of them, with the entire team placing.

“We all did really good, I was nervous because it was the first meet of the season and I thought I didn’t have enough resistance yet, we trained really hard with the Coach and it paid off,” Varsity runner Barbara Padron said. “Sometimes I feel like my legs are falling apart but the coach always pushes us to the limit to reach our best potential.”

The team won:

2nd place in 4X4, by Barbara Padron, Caroline Flanagan, Rebecca Ortiz and Luca John.

2nd place in 800m by Rebecca Ortiz.

2nd place Pole Vault by Emma Peterson.

Varsity Track will have their next meet this Thursday, February 13th in New Caney High School.
