Baseball rallies at Lamar Cons. tourney

The varsity baseball team played well in a very tough Lamar Consolidated I.S.D. tournament this past weekend.

They lost their first two games, 6-4 to George Ranch and 7-6 to Brazoswood, but the Cougars stormed back and won their last three games.

In the third game of the tournament, they beat state-ranked Foster High School 7-5. In the fourth game of the tournament they beat Lamar Consolidated High School 16-7. In the final game of the tournament they beat Dulles, which played in the state 5A championship game last season, by a score of 6-4.

The entire team played well as they improved their season record to 8-3. The team is already shaping up well for playoffs as they attempt to defend their state title.

The weather has forced some scheduling changes. The sub-varsity game scheduled for today (3/3) will be played at Marshall at 4:30 on Wednesday. The varsity game scheduled for tomorrow (3/4) at home has been re scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at THS. The J.V. game at Elkins (3/4) has been postponed until a later date.
