Tomball Stage’s opening night of their first show, 39 steps, is tonight at 7 p.m. They will also be performing on Oct. 2, 3, and 5 as well, all at 7 p.m.

39 Steps is a radio play, where the actors have no scripted movements, but instead, stand at a microphone to show their talents. This allows for social distancing guidelines to be maintained during the show.

“We are wearing masks for rehearsal and dress rehearsal, but hopefully by the time the show comes around this week, we will be taking them off,” Avery Bishop said. “We even made shower curtain dividers between us to make sure that when we turn to talk to each other there will be no contact made whatsoever.”

Though theater is very prepared to keep all actors and supporting staff safe, they haven’t had much time to prepare the entire show. Tickets are being offered during lunches, at the door or online.

“I am very excited that we did decide to have shows this year, it is a little unnerving though, because we only had about three weeks of rehearsals and that’s not a lot of time for a show,” Bishop said.

In the wake of COVID, Tomball Stage is hoping for a good turn out to their shows.
