Congratulations to the following students, who earned a spot in the Region 9 Freshman All-Region Band: Summer Bruner, Alonso Ramirez, Zach Atrops, James DeMetroplis, Ruben Acuna, and Abril Villarreal. These students will play at a Montgomery H.S. concert on Saturday at 5:30 P.M.

Atrops said he was a little nervous but he made it.

“The experience was pretty fun,” Atrops said. “I got to meet new people and make new friends.”

This is a good opportunity for these freshman to really put themselves out there, show off their talents in the musical field, and get scholarships for college if they wish to pursue a career in music when they graduate.

This audition takes a lot of practice time and can often get in the way of other school assignments.

“I practiced about an hour every day and made sure I practiced in the morning and after I finished my homework which was usually late at night,” Bruner says. “It was a little difficult to be ahead of all my other classes but I was able to keep up with them.”
