Double win for Softball
March 27, 2018
A crazy final inning saw the Lady Cougars send Magnolia West packing 10-9 to earn their second win in a week.
After a standstill in the first two innings, the third was the beginning of the end of the Mustangs with the Lady Coogs scoring three runs.
Another run was made in the fifth inning by the Coogs and the Mustangs attempted a comeback in the sixth, making four runs.
In the seventh inning each team made three runs, putting the score at 7-7.
With the score board being tied, everything hung in the balance that final inning. In the end the Coogs made one more run than the Mustangs, making the final score 10-9.
The only home run of the game was made by Amanda Skivington who also earned an RBI of 3.
Taylor Spexarth made 3 runs, 3 hits, and stole a base. Jeryn Cook also made 3 hits, two of which got her to 2nd base, and struck out 3 Mustang batters.
Last Tuesday the Coogs traveled to Huntsville hoping to rebound after a loss to Brenham, and that’s what they got, with a final score of 7-5.
Spexarth made three runs, Emily Redden earned an RBI of two, and Ferrin Weinert was walked twice.
In addition, Skivington and Cook each made three hits.
Softball’s next game is at Tomball Memorial, a team that’s having a strong season so far. The team is hoping the Coogs will get their revenge. Game starts at 7 p.m.
