Tomball athletes take their talents to the next level

Another year and another class of phenomenal athletes showcasing their talents. As the school year goes on, all eyes are on current Tomball cougars.

Tomball has always had a variety of good athletes and this year is nothing different. “Hard work pays off” A saying that nearly every kid growing up has heard. It’s not until senior year that most of those kids realize exactly how true that saying could be.

“I felt like everything I’ve worked for the past 10 years was finally paying off,” says Connor Patterson. Patterson was scouted out by Rice University’s head coach and now has a scholarship for playing offensive line. But he is just one out of almost 13 Cougars who have gotten the chance to play their favorite sport at a college, while also recieveing an education.

Some may believe that no big colleges worth going to would ever consider looking at students in the small town of Tomball, but you never know who is watching you.

Although football players names are always heard around the hallways its not just football were scouts were looking in Tomball. Forward Caitlyn Diaz says “I felt relieved” when asked about getting signed full ride to University of Louisiana, Lafayette. “I was so ecstatic.

Rex Hill has been given a full ride to become an Aggie (Texas A&M). When he is not studying, Hill is a left-handed pitcher for the Cougar baseball team.

“Signing with one certain school is very stressful but I feel like I made the right decision,” he said.

Spence Rahm will be attending Sam Houston State University, playing first base and pitching.

“Going pro has been my dream for as long as I have been playing baseball,” he said, “and I hope to play baseball outside college also.”
