Tomball Soccer falls short of state title

Tomball Soccer falls short of state title

Tomball’s undefeated district soccer champs fell over the weekend early in the state tournament, ending a magical run in Coach James Woodard’s last season at the school.

Woodard is heading to Tomball Memorial in the fall.

The boys advanced into the fourth round of playoffs after Tuesday’s victory over Austin Bowie, four to two.  Junior Jonathan Sanchez and senior Logan Miller scored two goals each with two assists from senior Edsau Castanon and one assist each from seniors Robert McGinnis and Jack Hayes.

The Cougars were on the road again for the region II regional semi-finals, defeating North Mesquite on Friday night in Round Rock, before falling in the opening round Saturday of the state tournament.
