Golf unaffected by football reign

From the beginning of fall, to the end of spring semester, fifteen boys and five girls on campus participate in 7th period golf.

“It’s not as easy as they make it seem on TV, it takes years and years of practice” says the coach of both the girls and guys team, Coach Jon Taylor.

The sport is played as an individual sport, rather than a team activity, and due to their hard work and the guidance of Taylor, many of the players have placed in top 10 at every district meet.

Every two weeks the players take part in district golf tournaments, all of which leading up to regionals at the end of both seasons.

Golf is sometimes an after-thought due to the gargantuan cloud reining over fall sports that is football, but the lack of recognition actually doesn’t have a large effect on the players. Davis John, the number one guy on the boys’ team said, “As long as we get the recognition we deserve, being behind the football players doesn’t bother me. We’re game either way.”
