Homecoming festivities are coming up and with various events, responsibilities, and honors to be bestowed, Tomball’s own Mr. Rex has been chosen as the homecoming grand marshal. The homecoming parade is one of the most exciting and awaited school year events. To be chosen as the grand marshal is an honor, and one Mr. Rex surely deserves.
Mr. Rex is a staple to the THS community, always greeting students with a smile and music as they enter the door. He’s willing to offer a listening ear and always shows up as the most supportive member at sports games and other events that this school holds. He has been working for the school for seven years and is looking to make that eight years and possibly more.
Every year his name is mentioned, at least a dozen students’ faces will light up and chant the familiar saying, “I love Mr. Rex!” He is well-known and well-loved.
This feeling is mutual too, Mr. Rex is always praising the students at THS and stating how much he loves working with them. “My favorite thing about Tomball is the students because I see them every day. I see them every morning and every afternoon and it’s good seeing young people knowing that they go here,” Mr. Rex said.
When asked to be the grand marshal, Mr. Rex was on the brink of tears, and happily accepted the homecoming proposal.
“I was very excited and pleased to be picked to be the grand marshal,” he said.
He also can’t wait for what’s to come and is completely honored to have this gift bestowed upon him. He looks forward to completing his duties and showing his school spirit to the best he can. We all know he will do an amazing job and we are happily cheering him on, knowing he is going to do the best he possibly can.
The parade begins tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at Tomball Intermediate and goes up Main Street to the Depot, where a community pep rally will be held.
