Animals rescued from Harvey in need of help

Many animals were displaced and left homeless because of Hurricane Harvey. Rescue shelters have been working hard to reunite these animals with their families, or at least find them a temporary home.

Thousands of heroic, selfless people were out during the storm rescuing animals who had been seeking refuge. Some dogs were found tied to poles and others desperately trying to stay dry.

These animals are still being packed into rescue centers, scared, cold, and alone. Airlifts have been transferring animals to shelters all over the country to keep them safe, and give them the vaccinations that they need.

The shelters can’t do this alone, though. They need all of the support they can get from  citizens all over.

Anyone can help by donating to shelters. The money goes towards beds, food, vaccinations, medications, microchips, and so much more. Donations help keep these animals healthy and comfortable while they are in the cramped sanctuaries.

Another way to help is to adopt. There are lots of dogs and cats in the shelters that need a permanent home. Instead of shopping for pets, choose the alternative and adopt. Animals that have been displaced need homes with people who will love them. Many shelters are having adoption days for people who want to add a member to their family.
