Orchestra gets Sweepstakes at UIL

Earlier this week, both the non-varsity philharmonic and the varsity chamber orchestras competed in their UIL competitions and they both received “superior” ratings in not only the sight reading room, but on stage as well.

“We worked our tails off for this,” junior, Sam Cardello said, “and I’m glad it paid off.”

They were graded by three judges for the on stage portion and three judges for the sight reading room. Each judge felt that their performances deserved the best score on the scale, earning them the Sweepstakes award.

“We are very proud of these students as their hard work and commitment has paid off in representing Tomball High School,” orchestra director Kade Schmalz said. “Please congratulate your student when you see them!”
