Goodwin recovering from wreck over Christmas break

He was in the back seat of the family car, just on their way to visit relatives. Then, in just a couple of seconds, his life changed immediately.

At the beginning of Christmas break, Dec. 17, Anthony Goodwin was on the road on a normal Saturday with his stepmom and his dad.

“We’ve been driving down a two-way road coming up to a truck in front of us. The truck swiftly swerved of the road and out of nowhere we just saw the car right in front of us and my dad at the last second turned the wheel hard but we still got hit head-on. Our car spun and we came to a stop. The woman (of the other car) got out of her car and asked me to get out and help her find her shoe.”

Later on it turned out that this woman was intoxicated.

“I got out of the car and started walking down the street and sat down. I watched my dad crawl out of my side of the car and my stepmother was screaming. People started crowding around and my dad called people to tell them what happened. The ambulance came hard-working on me, my stepmother, and my father. I started telling jokes to the Medics while they put me in the ambulance with my stepmother and took us to the elementary school to Life flight us to Memorial Hermann.”

Unfortunately this accident left some injuries: “I have internal bruising, a messed up shoulder, and a compression fracture on my T-10 spinal bone. My father had broken facial bones, a shattered knee, and a gashed elbow.  My stepmother had torn her legs up from the glass, torn Acl, and a shattered knee.”

He is back in school now and on a recovery. But he’s feeling better now: “I still feel the pain, but it gets better.”
