New chapter for school book club

Freshman Dillon Morgan and English teacher Jessica Nazer have started a book club for those who like to read books or need an excuse to read. As a newly formed club, the members choose 1984 as their first book to read.

Though reading is a big part of the Book Club, it encourages the high school students to voice their opinions on how the story or character evolves. Any input is discussed in great detail to the point were everyone eventually laughs about something.

Not only does this club encourage reading it show us that reading is another joy that isn’t dying out.

According to Clean Cut Media, “…in 1957, less than 25% of Americans were reading a book or a novel according to Gallup Poll? By 2005, that figure had risen to 47%. This means one if every two Americans are actively reading a book.” So what’s changed to make more read?

Pew Internet said “It is sometimes the case that different people cite different motives.”

When it comes to motives, the more educated are more likely to read than the less educated. But women are buried in books more often then men. Then the teen or young adult finds that they read textbooks or novels to move ahead in life or to relax after a hard day.

Just as we evolve, so did the ability to find what we need. With new inventions and technology that became more apart of life then ever before is a major motive to a wide spread of people.

Thanks to people like Dillon Morgan and Jessica Nazer the spark of reading has became a thing that you can share and enjoy with others.
