Returning from the holidays is a difficult task to commit to, many students take days off, slack off on homework, and accidentally sleep in.  That’s understandable because we’ve been out of school for two and a half weeks. However, it’s time to get back to normal, here are some tips on making the transition back to ordinary life easier.

Set a schedule

Solidifying daily tasks may seem like a tedious job, but many times students who do this have found themselves to be more productive and it has been easier to get back to routine. Simple actions such as setting a definite sleep schedule make it easier to wake up in the morning and allow students to feel more energetic. The preferred amount of sleep for teenagers is around 8 to 10 hours, however, it is just fine to get 6 to 7 hours. It is also highly necessary when setting a routine to write it down in some form, writing information down has been shown to commit information to people’s brains easier and stay in their memory longer.

Goals (following through)

After returning from New Year, many students have made resolutions or set goals for 2023. Setting goals give people motivation however, it’s hard for many to follow through with these goals. Being realistic is the key, you can’t say you’ll earn money for a fancy new car without having any money or a job. Along with this, talking with friends about this can be a massive help, they will be there to keep you accountable and they could join in on it too. There are many other steps to keeping yourself accountable with your resolution, but these are a few simple ones to get you along the way.

Don’t Procrastinate

Procrastinating is a massive temptation for all high school students, especially after winter break. Just like setting a schedule for daily life, another option is to make a homework schedule. For example, if you have English homework plan to work on it from 5:00 to 5:30. An anonymous person said, “I have a whiteboard that I use to plan out my homework, and I even use different colors based on how urgent it is to finish the task. It’s helped my productivity and I’ve found that if I don’t do it I’m all out of sorts.” Many students suffer from procrastination, and it’s a hard task to overcome, however, learning how to finish the homework on time is much better than not passing a class
