Lacrosse a lifetime pursuit for Allie Postus
January 13, 2022
THS junior Allie Postus plays varsity goalie and junior varsity field for two lacrosse teams , the Klein Varsity team as well as the Houston Hot Sauce travel team. But her passion for the sport traces all the way back to her elementary days, and has been full of ups and downs.
“I started playing lacrosse in third grade, and then I had to stop playing because of injury in sixth grade, but I came back during freshman year and I’ve been playing ever since,” Allie said.
Allie and her family grew up in Philadelphia, where lacrosse is very popular, so she’s been raised with lacrosse.
“My whole entire family’s involved in lacrosse,” she said. “My dad coaches, my brother plays, my sister plays.”
With her successful past in lacrosse, Allie is looking to keep playing beyond high school. So far, she has been scouted by multiple colleges for her skills. She has also trained at lacrosse camps and toured at some colleges in order to strengthen and continue on this path.
“I’m mostly looking at D2 (division two universities), Rowan University, West Chester University…” Allie said, also mentioning that these would be great for not only their teams, but as well as returning home to Philadelphia.
While keeping up with a busy lacrosse schedule, she also manages to keep up with AP classes and be an active member of the theater department. She explains that having a family support system is vital in keeping up with it all.
“I don’t think my parents have ever missed a game, my mom’s always there cheering me on,” Allie said.
While lacrosse itself has proven to be difficult, as well as balancing playing with high school, Allie continues to excel and grow.
“It’s really taught me to be responsible,” she said. “It’s hard, (but) for the most part, it’s been a positive experience.”
