Cougars notch first win of season

Tomball held off a late charge by Caney Creek to post a 43-35 victory Friday night at Tomball Stadium.

The Cougars evened their record at 1-1 as they collected 427 yards of total offense in a balanced attack.

Mason Jones completed 11 of 17 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Jerome Ramirez and Jacob Allan. Jones also ran for a touchdown.

Percy Alford carried 19 times for 216 yards and a touchdown, while Mykheal Taylor rushed six times for 106 and two touchdowns.

David Prescott had 10 solo tackles including three for a loss, while Trace Willis had seven.

Next up for the Cougars will be Mayde Creek on Friday night for the homecoming game. Mayde Creek lost their season opener to Cy-Springs 21-3 and play again tonight against Cy-Lakes.
