The baseball team won their first district game against Fort Bend Marshall Tuesday night. The boys are expecting another win tonight in their tournament at New Caney before returning to district.

With the baseball season just starting, the team is hoping to come out strong as they did last season.

“We just need to play as a team and go into this year as we did last year,” Dylan Bass said, “Last season we were ranked low and ended up proving everybody wrong.”

Last year, despite low expectations of surrounding districts, the team defied the odds and went deeper into the playoffs than they ever had before, going as far as their fourth playoff game.

Bass believes that the key to another great season is to “play with the same motivation as last season.”

As of now, playoffs are within reach.

“We just need to hit our peak at the right time and ride it as far as we can into the playoffs,” Braeden Holub said.

But with the team just getting into district, there is enough time to contemplate their strategy.

“We’re just looking to focus on our season one game at a time,” Kyle Workman said.

As far as getting into the playoffs goes, Workman and Holub both agree that the expectations for the season have been set high.
