New district previews: Serve it up

The volleyball team will face a whole new competition next year in 4A.

No longer will our rivals be Klein Collins and Klein Oak, but rather Tomball Memorial andStratford. The preseason will be as competitive as always, playing many 5A schools to get ready for district.

Key players are expected to be Kaili Birkner, Mason Lanch, PJ Meyer, Hope Forsythe and Kyndall Ingram. The team’s strengths may not be their height, but “we have hops,” said outside hitter P.J. Meyer.

No doubt the girls’ verticals will give them an upper edge when blocking and hitting. Other strengths will be defensive skills and remarkable teamwork.

“They’re quick and able to keep the ball off the floor,” said  coach Cheri Wallace. “The girls work well together.”
