Justin Dvorak threw for five touchdowns and the defense turned in another stellar performance as the Tomball Cougars ambushed the Mayde Creek Rams 42-10 at Rhodes Stadium in Katy.
The Cougars, who have already surpassed their win total for each of the last two seasons, continued to post big numbers on offense while the defense held their third consecutive opponent to 10 points or less.
The Cougars posted 350 yards of offense, more than double that of the Rams, and Dvorak accounted for more than 270 of those yards through the air and ground.
Meanwhile, Mayde Creek could manage only two yards passing, as the Rams’ pair of quarterbacks completed just one of four pass attempts.
The Cougars next get a weekend off to savor their hot start, returning to action Sept. 24 against Westfield at Cougar Stadium to open district play.
