How old is too old to trick-or-treat?
October 28, 2019
October 31st has always been a day kids look forward to. But are only little kids allowed to enjoy this holiday by trick-or-treating?
Dressing up for this spooky holiday has long been a tradition around the world, and many high school students want to relive the nostalgia of their childhood.
“I mean, most people are going to be a kid forever I think you should go for it,” said Xander Navojosky.
However dressing up and the tradition of Halloween is not the only incentive for teens to go trick-or-treating, regardless of age.
“I just like to get some free candy,” said Janiah Williams, voicing an opinion held by many teens that continually go trick-or-treating.
But is Halloween truly an ageless holiday?
Adults often hold strict opinions and will turn away trick-or-treaters that are in high school, claiming that only young children should go around asking for candy.
“Once you’re out of high school [you’re too old],” Riley Falzarano said. “You’re more mature after high school.”
According to TIME magazine, one town in Canada banned anyone older than 16 from trick-or-treating, and any rule-breakers were fined $200.
Is this a rule all towns should enforce?
But as the debate about age limits for trick-or-treating continues, enjoy Halloween the way you feel in your bones.
