Tomball will be hosting the First Annual West Super Meet, a rare opportunity for a high school hosting a meet at this level.

The schools competing are Caney Creek, Clemons, Dekaney, George Bush, Magnolia, Nimitz, and Tomball. The eighth school will be decided at the Tomball Classic Drill Meet on February 5th.

This year there have been changes to the NJROTC areas across the US, altering how regional and state meets will be held and what criteria they need to meet to advance to the next stage.

Tomball High School used to be apart of Area 10, which was all of Texas, meaning that after all of the qualifying drill meets, there would be a State drill meet held at Texas A&M College Station. However, because Texas is so densely populated there were changes to the areas and their borders.

Now the SE side of Texas is now Area 8 along with Alabama, Mississippi, NW Florida, and Louisiana.

This means that now there are meets that schools need to Qualify before they advance to the Area 8 Regional meet, those are called Super Meets.

“It feels great that the Area Manager has confidence in our ability for us to run the meet successfully” LCDR Greg Boucher said.

The top two schools at the Super meet advance to the Area 8 Regional Meet, and then the top two schools from the regional meet advance to the National NJROTC Drill Meet in Pensacola Florida.
