Performances of The Tomball STAGE production of “Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic,” written by Matt Cox, will start this week.

“Puffs” is a Harry Potter spinoff story that focuses on Wayne Hopkins, a boy who discovers he is a wizard and goes to an English school of magic. Wayne and his trio of Puffs go on a variety of magical adventures while figuring out what it means to be a wizard.

“‘Puffs’ is a perfect mix for both long-time Harry Potter fans and people who haven’t read the books or watched the movies,” said STAGE Historian Avery Bishop. “Since the story is based on a group of side characters it’ll be interesting to watch how the cast brings them to life in light of the original Harry Potter series.”

On opening night Thursday, there will be a costume contest for “Best Dressed Wizard”. Spectators are encouraged to dress up in their wizard attire and the first-place winner will receive a $100 gift card. Second and third places will be awarded $50 gift cards.

The performances will be on Thursday through Saturday, and next Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets cost $8 and are available on The Tomball STAGE website or in the cafeteria during all lunches.
