Tomball to pay tribute on 9/11 anniversary

Chris, White

The city of Tomball is going to host a special festival to mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attack, held at 201 S. Elm St at 8:30 a.m. and is free for anyone that wants to go.

Food will be served free to first responders as well as the song “Amazing Grace” being performed by local firefighters using bagpipes.

“Man, I think that (festival) is a great idea, we get to pay our respects to all the first responders who lost their lives on that day,” Officer Courtnay White said.

The events of that day were a touchstone to the older generations.

“I believe (the festival is) really good because we have to remember all the people that died on that day,” Officer Juliette Pommer said. “I have friends that were there, some died and some are here to this day.”

Officer White also hopes that the kids at THS form bonds with each other like people did after 9/11.

“Work together, don’t worry about the small things because we are better together,” he said.
