The window to change learning environments has been extended.

As Texas Gov. Greg Abbott made changes to the mask mandate, the final decision is left up to the school districts. While the community is debating the mask mandate, TISD has so far maintained its policy on masks at school.

As a result of Abbott’s order, the deadline for students who wish to change their learning environment has been pushed back to next Friday. The grading period has also been pushed back one week; the third nine weeks will officially end the week after spring break. With the week off due to the winter storm, this also balances the amount of weeks in each grading period during the second semester.

This means that those who are wanting to switch to either face-to-face or virtual will have to wait an extra week for the new grading period to start.

Though the deadline has been pushed back, the window to change is currently open. If a student wishes to change their learning environment, they need to log into the parent home access center. More information can be found here.
