Special Buddies program to start soon at THS

Maggie Wolfe, Staff Writer

A new program called “The Special Buddies” is starting new at our school.

It will allow any student in Tomball High School to pair up with students in the Special Needs program and spend time with them in and out of school.

It has not officially begun yet, as it is still in the sign up process

Anyone can apply no matter what grade level they’re in.

The purpose of this program is to allow students to guide, spend time, and become mentors to the special need students.  Currently, there are students who are looking for their perfect buddy.

If you do sign up for the Special Buddies program, there are some standards you have to meet.

You must be approved by the Special Ed teachers to work with the students and agree to the terms set.  Because it is a privilege to be in the program, it is expected that all those who sign up will be dedicated to spending time with their buddy by going to sporting events together, attending school functions with one another, and even joining your buddy on field trips and outside school events.

Those who are interested in joining the special buddies program, or want more information on the sign up process or requisites can go see Mrs. Hawthorn, the PALS teacher, in room 1123.

This is a unique opportunity to make new friendships and see a world inside of our school that you’ve never seen before.
