The implement of the new tardy system will soon be in place.

As everyone already knows at THS, you will be required to carry a student ID on you at all times while you are on campus. When you are late to a class you will have to scan your ID and a special machine will print you a tardy pass, the student will then have 2 minutes to get to class and will notify the students parents. The machine will also track how many tardies you collect, and issue a D-Hall notice when you pass your limit.

“Our administration can’t spend hours in the office writing referrals for students who are constantly tardy,” Associate Principal Terrance Slaughter said. “By putting this tardy system in place it urges students to get to class on time, resulting in less tardies. THS staff wants to spend time with other staff and students to help build better relationships.”

In life everyone has rules and the staff is enforcing them so students can be better prepared for the future.

“If you look at a country with no rules there is chaos,” Slaughter said. “The rules need to be the same for everyone, if you are six minutes early to class and another student is late and the teacher doesn’t count them as tardy, how would that make you feel?”
