New principal Chris Scott has made his first big hire for next fall, naming Creekside Park Junior High assistant principal Terrance Slaughter as the new associate principal at THS.
Slaughter replaces Kim McKinney, who will be heading upstairs as principal of the new Tomball Star Academy.
The associate principal position is the No. 2 spot in the school, and typically is more of an administrative role overseeing the staff and academics.
Slaughter has worked in education for 14 years and served 21 years in the Marine Corps. He has a Masters in Education from Prairie View A&M. He holds a BA from the University of Houston in history.
“We look forward to having Terrance join the leadership team at THS,” Scott said in an e-mail to staff on Thursday. Scott is coming to THS from Creekside Park as well.
