Former student breaks into Field House
A break-in occurred at the field house last Monday, as a man entered the field house, stole any items that he could by stuffing them into a large bag, and left.
The police have identified the man as a former student who never graduated. Nothing more has been released to the public about his identity.
The crime occurred from Sunday night to very early Monday morning in the field house. The subject forced entry into the building taking whatever property he could, oblivious to the cameras that caught him double checking all the locked doors, writing on the walls, and even breaking open a vending machine with an ice scraper.
“We have a preponderance of evidence against him,” Officer Burns of the Tomball Police said. “Everything to video footage to eyewitness accounts to people who could identify him from several pieces of evidence.”
The most costly damage was actually the vending machine, which will need a new door after being damaged.
“Fortunately it was a building,” Burns said, “because I know it’s a huge invasion of privacy for people whose houses are broken into. When you victimize someone in that sense it follows them for their entire life.
“There is a similar effect to people involved here, they think that their office is secure. They felt like they could leave things, pictures of their family, their personal belongings, clothes. And now they might not feel so secure in their own offices.”
The next morning some football players that came to work out saw the broken vending machine and wanted drinks from it. Their response was to leave money inside of the machine, while reaching through the hole in the middle to get their drinks.
The police are currently in the process of making an arrest.
