Students invited to join Citizens Fire Academy

This year, the Citizens Fire Academy 2016 will take place March 10th-June 16th. The Tomball Fire Department Citizen’s Fire Academy is a unique opportunity for students interested in pursuing the emergency response field, such as firefighters or rescue workers.

The details of the course will provide participants with an overview of the structure and operations of the department, giving students the opportunity to experience hands on task level work performed by firefighters.

The course is held for 16 weeks, with the academy meeting one night a week and a couple of weekends set aside for practice. This curriculum, presented by the Tomball Fire Department, will be taught by state certified instructors.

Signing up is easy. If anyone, age 16 and older, wants to participate in the Citizen’s Fire Academy, they only need to call or e-mail Shera Carriker with their name, a contact phone number and an e-mail address. They will then be put on a list and emailed a registration packet.

On Thursday, March 10th, those who registered need to show up at Fire Station 1 at the corner Rudel and Quinn in Tomball at 7pm with their completed packet. All equipment and materials will be provided for them to participate in the class.

To register, please email Shera Carriker at [email protected] and for questions call 281-290-1060.
