Theater Shines at UIL meet
Last Saturday, March 28th, the theater program went to district to compete in the one act play event. They were one of the three schools who were allowed to advance to bi-district, which will take place next Thursday, April 9th.
The play performed was “These Shining Lives,” a show about four women in the 1920s who work together in a factory. They then are diagnosed with radium poisoning and decide to sue the company.
The actors have been practicing and rehearsing since the end of winter break for UIL, their efforts have obviously paid off. The four main parts, the women diagnosed, belong to Katie Pavlas, Megan Todd, Madi Lantrip, and Ashley Lambright. Other important actors include Brian Smiley, Michael Murray, Matthew Overturf, Sam Sharp, and Silas Shaban.
If Students want to see the UIL performances, there will be a dinner theater next Tuesday, April 14th. During which, viewers will be served dinner and be able to see the play “Crimes of the Heart.” Then, after a brief intermission, “These Shining Lives” will play.
Anyone who wishes to see “These Shining Lives” during the bi-district meet on April 9th can go to Magnolia High School and view it. However, it will begin at or around 2:30.
The actors hope to advance once more, if so they will give another performance at the Tomball College. Any seniors with early release are welcome to Magnolia, and all students are encouraged to come to the dinner theater and help support the theater program.
