Orchestra prepares for Holiday Concert
The school orchestra is currently preparing for their upcoming Holiday Concert on Dec. 10 in the THS auditorium. There, they will be playing a variety of well known Christmas tunes, as well as a few from holiday movies.
“We practice every day in class with the help of our director, [David] Golden,” said violinist Connor McKee.
The orchestra also rehearses after school with the band once a week to get used to the sound of the full orchestra before the big concert. That seems like a lot of practicing already, but they’re not done yet.
On top of class and after school rehearsal every member takes time out of their busy lives to “sharpen and better their skills.”
“So far, we have faced many problems,” McKee said. Some pieces selected for the concert have areas that are “somewhat beyond the level of a few of our players.”
He believes it will only make them stronger as an orchestra because the members will be pushed to become better players.
Overall, Connor thinks the orchestra will have a “spectacular performance” because he knows that each individual person has put forth a lot of effort into each piece of music.
