Tips to tame stress

During the school year, many students feel as if they are overwhelmed and stressed.

High schoolers juggle part time jobs, worry about upcoming assignments, and wonder how to take the next step in their future education. Trying to manage all these things at once can leave people feeling frazzled and discouraged.

However, it is achievable to keep stress at a minimum, here are some tips:

Eat a healthy diet

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is beneficial to help with stress. Make sure to eat one full of fresh fruits and vegetables. Juices with vitamin C, such as orange juice, are said to be good for the immune system, keeping sickness at bay. Drinking water can help with hydration, making it easier to accomplish goals. Although feeling tired can make it tempting to just grab Chinese takeout, cooking from scratch can be therapeutic as well.

 Exercise

Exercising at least once a week releases endorphins that are helpful for combating stress. Even daily walks for 30 minutes can help with feeling better. Good exercises associated with stress beaters are pilates or yoga. Yoga eases the mind and relaxes the muscles, helping to beat the habit of worrying. Joining a team or club sport is also a good idea, it’s a great opportunity to make new friends and develop team building skills.

 Make a study schedule

Even though it is annoying to write down all assignments, taking note of what is needed to be done, instead of trying to remember it, can be incredibly helpful. Estimating the time each task will take is another tool to make the most use of the time allotted. By planning out things, there is less chance of procrastination. As an added bonus, there is always an immense relief that comes with crossing something off the list.

With these tips in mind, being stress free is just a few simple steps away.
