These are the eight movies we’re most looking forward to this month:

The Dinner [Rated R]

Coming out May 5th, The Dinner is a mystery/thriller about how far parents will go to protect their children and is based on a novel by Herman Knoch. As of now, only AMC Willowbrook 24 is showing the movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 [PG-13]

The new Guardians of the Galaxy movie is a sci-fi/action film produced by Marvel studios based off of the old Guardians of the Galaxy comic books. Although the movie looks really weird, even weirder than the last, it should still be pretty good regardless. The movie itself is coming out May 5th and will be offered at all the local theaters.

Santikos Silverado is even playing the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie on the IMAX.

Snatched [R]

Snatched is an action/comedy about a young woman named Emily Middleton whose boyfriend recently dumped her, just before the two of them were supposed to go on a exotic vacation. So instead, the protagonist decides to invite her mother, whom she is polar opposites with in almost every way.

Emily Middleton is being played by Amy Schumer.

King Arthur: Legend of the sword [PG-13]

This new interpretation of an old English/Welsh legend is a rags-to-riches, and action packed, story about a young Arthur who’s forced to live on the streets in a dirty medieval city. This all changes when Arthur pulls the sword from the stone and discovers who he really is.

Diary of a wimpy kid: The long haul [PG]

The newest Diary of a wimpy kid, which comes out May 19th, is about the Heffley family’s road trip to Meemaw’s 90th birthday which goes horribly wrong after Greg comes up with a scheme to go to a video game convention on the way. Also, nearly all the actors have changed since the last movie.

Alien: Covenant [R]

The newest movie to join the Alien franchise is about a colony ship called the Covenant which is headed to a distant planet to colonize. Upon arriving, the colonists believe they’ve arrived in paradise and meet the surviving member of the Prometheus mission. Things go down hill when the Aliens begin attacking, like they always do. This revival of the alien series comes out May 19th.

Baywatch [R]

Coming out May 25th, Baywatch is about a lifeguard (Dwayne Johnson) and his new recruit (Zac Efron) whom discover a criminal plot that could threaten the future of the bay. And yes girls, Zac Efron is shirtless in large parts of the movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead men tell no tales [PG-13]

The 5th movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which never grows old, Dead men tell no tales is about Jack Sparrow’s continued misfortune when an old nemesis Cpt. Salazar begins hunting him down with an undead spirit crew while being stuck in the devil’s triangle. Sparrow’s only hope is to find the trident of Posiedon but is forced to make a fragile alliance with a headstrong man from the British Navy along with a brilliant and beautiful astronomer.

Unlike the last movie, Dead men tell no tales will see the return of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and will be coming out May 26th.
