With school starting and sports ramping up cougar football is ready for action. Varsity football has their first scrimmage vs Grand Oaks home at Tomball Stadium this Thursday August 21st at 7pm
Varsity is already putting in the work getting ready for their first game. “ Well, right now I’ve just been getting just reps perfecting my craft and like they’re just working on my little things like how many steps I need to do in order to get out of a break. How many where do I need to be to block somebody What do I need to do to be successful on a play.” Varsity wide receiver Abel Quiroz-De La Fuente said. Last year varsity also put up a stellar performance going to the regional semi finals and hope to continue it this year. “ Coach handle stresses week by week for us. So it’s all about getting better each and every day, and then the score does the talking.” Varsity quarterback Jaxynn Faldyn said.
“It’s been like a grind, all right and it will definitely be a challenge.” Stepping up A team JVs new starting quarterback Coltin Martin said. During practice the JV has been working hard getting ready to beat the teams they had a challenge with last year. “ We’ve been working harder this year, working up at 5:00 AM, and I feel like we’re going to beat them.” JV A team safety Colten Scelfo said.
The freshman had their first scrimmage playing kingwood park and winning it 21 to 7. “So far it’s looking so good we’ve been working hard getting at it and our players are going well. “ Freshman A team B-back Jayton Bass said. During practice the boys have been grinding, getting ready to have another well successful freshman season. “ Throwing routes, getting teamwork, communicating, getting the route tree down, and that’s about it. Building team chemistry and stuff. Yeah, like just building camaraderie and getting formations down and getting everybody ready for the season.” Freshman A team Starting quarterback Jerry French Said.
