Coach Mitchell Doty, the former head coach of the boys varsity basketball team, has retired, and Tomball will now try to find a new candidate to fill the vacant position.
With Doty gone, many basketball members have expressed how they feel about getting a new head coach.
“I’m excited to have a new coach who can push me to my full potential and get me to the next college level,” Tyler Dalton said.
Students have specific qualities they are looking for from a new head coach for their team.
“The qualities I want to see in a coach are a great leader, someone we can look up to, and someone that wants to win and develop us as players and most importantly as humans,” Brady Munson said.
The coach meant a lot to the team not only as their coach, but as a leader, so him leaving will affect the team.
“Some of us had good relationships with him, and he was easy to talk to,” said Munson. “He was also a Christian-driven human who showed us the importance of God.”
