After three consecutive years of winning the district championship, the soccer team prepared this season with a new management to be able to win the championship for the fourth time in a row.
The team is now commanded by Coach Alex McMorris and Coach Robert Smallwood who changed the tactics of the team in the past few months and formed a solid team for this winter season.
“We have been preparing hard for the season. I believe we are going to win the district championship this year and that we will work as hard as we can to make it happen,” Dante Hernandez said.
Since Coach Robert Smallwood’s arrival, the Freshman and Junior Varsity teams have remained undefeated, solid, and unstoppable on the field, bringing plenty of joy and star moments to the school and family of the players.
As for Coach McMorris, the Varsity team faced some challenges early in the season, but once the players adjusted, the team improved significantly. They’re now back to form and are more determined than ever to secure another playoff run and win the district championship.
“We may not win every game, but we are trying to win every time we step onto the field. Our goal is to win our fourth consecutive district championship to continue defending the title,” sophomore Luis Ojeda said.
The team has had a solid season and is working to live up to the expectations of fighting for the title, where there is more pressure than ever. Under new coaching with a new team, the Cougars will be fighting to extend the streak of consecutive district titles.
