The Sampsons both dreamed one day they would be state champions. In a way, their dreams came true.
Last Spring the Tomball High School baseball team won the 2024 UIL 6A Baseball State Championship, crushing Pearland 4-1 in Round Rock’s Dell Diamond Stadium.
CJ Sampson, a junior, was the star player of the tournament. For Colt, a freshman who was in junior high at the time, he had the honor of being bat boy for his big brother and the team.
“It was a great moment cause I’ll always remember him being in the dugout when I won state and giving him a hug after we won was a really great moment,” CJ said.“ It was awesome, it was great to be able to be on the field and show him this is where you need to work up to and this is the level of baseball we need to be playing.”
The brother bond that was displayed in the games carried them on to the win. And now bring home the State win for Tomball High School.
“My brother influences me in life honestly, just showing me the ropes especially as I go into high school” Colt said.
CJ and Colts’ experience was amazing and the honor of sharing the moment was incredible. “ It was a great moment cause I’ll always remember him being in the dugout when I won state and giving him a hug after we won it was a really surreal moment.” CJ said.
